The formal E6 European Trekking Path has been launched for Greece. The long distance European path E6 enters Greece from Corfu and then crosses the port of Igoumenitsa, passing by Zagorohoria -the mountain villages in Epirus.

Wonderful trekking routes exist all over Greece, while each season and each region offer something different.

It turns further eastward past Kastoria, Edessa, Pela Perfecture of Macedonia, Sidirokastro, Xanthi and Alexandroupolis, hence tracing a line from the western most point of Greece, on the coast of the Ionian Sea to its northeastern most point near the border with Turkey.

The national trails O1, O2 and O3 interconnect with the E6 trail. The national trail O1 in northern Greece offers trekkers the opportunity to leave E6 from Metsovo, walk up the mountains Peristera (2295 m) and Kakarditsa (2429 meters) to Gardiki in Thessaly, and to meet the route E4 at Elati.

The O3 path offers the possibility to move from Ioannina (E6) up to the Vikos canyon gorge.

Following a six day march, the path leads up to the northern borders of Greece, crossing again E6 at Nestorio.
