Greece's Parliament adopted a bill yesterday which incorporates the recently (May 2) approved measures for the activation of the eurozone-IMF support mechanism for the country, expected to reach €110 billion. Following lengthy addresses by Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou and the four opposition party leaders, 172 deputies voted in favour of the legislation, while 121 voted against. The bill was voted through in principle and has to be discussed and voted -on an article by article basis- according to parliamentary procedure. Papandreou is to attend an informal meeting of the Heads of States and Government of the euro area in Brussels today. source source: http://www.greeknewsagenda.gr «« Let's get back to the News Overview |
