Description:
Nea Filadelfeia (Greek: Νέα Φιλαδέλφεια, meaning New Philadelphia) is a suburb in the northern part of Athens, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Filadelfeia-Chalkidona, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit.

The suburb was settled by Greek refugees from Anatolia (specifically the region around the ancient city of Philadelphia) after the Greco-Turkish War. The Cephissus and Kifissos Avenue/GR-1/E75 is located to the NW. It is located north of the neighborhood of Patissia. It is located S of Attiki Odos, WSW of Kifissia and W of Kifissias Avenue, W of Marathonos Avenue, N of Athens, NE of Peristeri, E of Kifissou Avenue and SE of Acharnes. The main street of the suburb is a road linking with Pefki, Dekeleia Avenue and Patission Avenue.

The area was made up of farmlands and forests. The forests have been partially saved in the many squares and in the several parks today. In the early to mid-20th century, urban development replaced much of the farmlands. Today, much of the municipality is urbanized while the businesses are along the main roads. Many of the trees are aligned with the streets and in the squares and parks of Nea Filadelfeia. The biggest park to be found is called Alsos Neas Filadelfias, which covers almost 480 square meters of land and hosts many different trees. In the past it used to be a zoo as well as a park.

Nea Filadelfeia has 9 Primary schools, 4 Secondary Schools (one of them is athletic type) and 3 High Schools. Among them is the 3rd High School of Nea Filadelfia "Miltos Kountouras", famous for the events and educational projects it frequently organizes through the school year.

The AEK sports club was established in Nea Filadelfeia in 1924. In particular, the Nikos Goumas Stadium was the home ground of AEK Athens FC from 1930 to 2003.

Nea Filadelfeia, like most of Athens enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Winters are mild with mean January temperatures above 8 degrees Celsius, while Summers can be particularly hot with mean maximum July temperatures in their mid 30's. Nea Filadelfeia is notorious in Greece for its summer heat and according to H.N.M.S it registers Greece's highest mean maximum summer temperatures for the period 1955-1997.In June 2007 the H.N.M.S station of Filadelfeia has registered 47.5°C. .For the 50 year period 1955-2004 the mean maximum July temperature for Nea Filadelfeia stands at 33.7°C
