The chairman of Greek league leader Olympiakos says he will fine players after an embarrassing weekend draw with Doxa Drama that put rivals Panathinaikos and AEK Athens firmly back in title contention. Vengelis Marinakis blasted players after the match for acting in a selfish an uninspired way, according to state-run NET television. He said bonuses awarded players earlier in the season would be cancelled unless they win the championship.
Olympiakos' away draw against last-placed Doxa saw Panathinaikos narrow the gap at the top of the table to four points after it beat Corfu 1-0.
The defending champions have 37 points from 16 matches, while Panathinaikos have 33 from 14 games. Olympiakos hosts Levadiakos on Saturday, while Panathinaikos travels to Ioannina the following day. (DG)
