Businessmen arrested for unpaid taxes - The Best from Greece

Two businessmen were arrested in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, on Thursday, on charges of outstanding taxes amounting to 2.088,000 euros. The two men, aged 50 and 68, are business partners and have previous court orders for unpaid taxes.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday police arrested 72-year-old Leon Levy, owner of the Bodyline beauty chain, for failing to pay taxes reaching up to 650.000 euros. Giorgos Petzetakis, chairman of AG Petzetakis, was also arrested by police on the same day for outstanding taxes.

According to Finance Ministry data, about 900,000 people owe the state an estimated 41.1 billion euros in outstanding taxes.
