Description:
Vlachata or Vlahata (Greek: Βλαχάτα from Vlach- + -άτα -ata), rarely Vlakhata is a village located in the eastern part of the municipality of Leivathos in the southern part of the island of Kefalonia. To avoid confusions with another Vlachata near Sami, it is also known as Vlachata Ikosimias or Vlachata Ikossimias. The road linking Argostoli and Poros runs through Vlachata. There is also a road linking to Epanochori. It is located SE of Argostoli, SSW of Sami and W of Poros and Skala.

Farmlands surround the villages with mainly pastures and groves around the area. Mount Aenos is to the north with rocky lands and grasslands in an area around 800 m to the north. The Ionian Sea and its beaches lie to the south. The southwestern portion of Kefal(l)onia and its villages and the northern and the eastern portion of Zante and the northwestern portion of Ilia can be seen.

Houses are aligned within the road for about 500 m. Vlachata also has a few streets. Businesses are aligned with the main road. All of its homes were rebuilt during the 1953 Ionian earthquake when older stone-built homes were completely damaged.

A limestone quarry near a small hill is situated about west of Vlachata. Several creeks, valleys and canyons are around Vlachata.

Vlachata has a small kindergarten school, a school, hotels, a church and a square (plateia).

The entire population prior to the late-20th century were entirely rural and were also farmers. Today, it is still the majority of the population of the settlement.
