TASOS MANTZAVINOS

Zoumboulakis Galleries present the solo exhibition by Tasos Mantzavinos on Thursday 4 February 2010.
Larger and smaller oil paintings, numerous works on paper and wooden constructions will be exhibited. Mantzavinos’ familiar obsession with ships, ex votos, riders and lovers, and above all, his own image along with a series of contemporary Caryatids with mask-like faces and heavily loaded hats, and some gigantic trees which in their trunk bear as if engraved the lonely outline of a standing nude woman, are the points of his interest in his latest work. Consistent with his idiosyncrasy and his artistic quest, Mantzavinos’ exuberant paintings are dominated by the power of color and governed by his passion for drawing.
