Posted on: 17/Oct/2011 - NEW YORK City-based collage artist Michael Anderson was so taken by Athens’ street art scene - when he arrived to collect street posters to create his fascinating collages of contemporary life - that he decided to organise an exhibition here.

The Bronx-born artist, art historian Marianna Panayiotoudis and graffiti artist Theofrastos Haritos collaborated on a newly-opened exhibition entitled Group-in-Fusion, mixing street and fine arts. Among participants in the exhibition is US-born digital and performance artist Jessica Speckhard, whose heart seems to lie in Athens. Many of her images portray urban chaos and the city as a fantasy environment with unlimited possibilities.

Expect to see her photo print on plexiglas Athens II (photo), depicting what appears to be a post-modern goddess hovering above the city, plus Anderson’s collages and other interesting pieces, many of which comment on Greek society today.

On at 7 Kalamida St, Psyrri until October 29. Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday 5-8pm; Saturday 12-5pm. For further information phone 6978-208-849 or visit www.chamuconegro.com
