Goya & Beethoven at the Teloglion
Two artistic giants of the late 18th and early 19th centuries - both of whom lost their hearing and both accurately depicted the times in which they lived - are the focus of a joint exhibition on at Thessaloniki’s Teloglion Foundation of Art as of this month.
A total of 211 etchings created by Spanish artist Francisco de Goya, together with original musical scores, letters, personal items and other articles belonging to German classical composer Ludwig van Beethoven, appear in the exhibition, entitled Goya & Beethoven at the Teloglion.
A highlight of the show is six Goya oil paintings, including The Bust of a Woman (photo), on loan from the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum. While the Goya component was launched on October 20, the Beethoven section opens to the public on October 26. 3 On at the Teloglion Foundation of Art (159A Agiou Dimitriou St, Thessaloniki) through 29 January 2012.
Opening hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9am-2pm; Wednesday 9am-2pm and 5pm-9pm; weekends 10am-6pm. Closed Monday.
