We wish to welcome you to the modern Monastery of the Transfiguration of Christ of Nafpaktos.
The Monastery of the Transfiguration of Christ of Nafpaktos is a modern monastery, based primarily on voluntary and private financial support and the work of its monks and priest-monks, members of the monastic brotherhood.
It was established under the provisions of the current Greek Public and Ecclesiastical Law, as a self-governed body under public law.
It is administered by the Monastic Brotherhood, under its Rules of Procedure and is under the spiritual authority of the Bishop of Nafpaktos. It was founded in 1977, in the Municipal district (then Community) of Scala, now Municipality of Nafpaktos. The founder, benefactor and first Abbot of the Monastery is the Archimandrite Spyridon Logothetis. The procedures for its establishment, legal foundation, land acquisition, construction, etc. took place during the office of the Bishop of Nafpaktos Damascenos Kotzias.
The monastery features a modern conference center, its own radio station, a religious icon atelier, a museum of the Greek Orthodox tradition, a museum of the naval battle of Lepanto and a sophisticated fish farm to cover the needs of the monastery.
The Brotherhood of the Monastery is composed of young and educated monks, graduates of various University faculties and today consists of twenty-one members.
