Danaos Corporation is a leading international owner of containerships, chartering vessels to many of the world's largest liner companies.
We currently have a fleet of 58 containerships aggregating 282,619 TEU, making us among the largest containership charter owners in the world. We charter our containerships to a geographically diverse group of liner companies, including most of the largest ones globally. Such customers include Maersk, CMA-CGM, Yang Ming, China Shipping, Hanjin, ZIM, MSC, TS Lines, SCI and Hyundai Merchant Marine Co.
Our containerships are deployed under multi-year, fixed-rate time charters that range from one to 18 years for vessels in our current fleet and up to 12 years for our contracted vessels, which provides us with stable cash flows and high utilization rates.
A substantial part of our chartering operations is carried out through our Hamburg offices, while our two offices based in Ukraine assist our Crewing department with the task of globally coordinating manning of our vessels.

Container trade plays a critical role in the global seaborne movement of goods. Volume has grown rapidly over the last twenty years, as a result of globalization which has boosted international trade in finished and semi-finished goods, as well as just-in-time delivery practices implemented by manufacturing.

QUALITY, SAFETY, ENVIRONMENT
In the shipping business, just like in a number of other safety-critical industries, safety is not an empirical issue, nor can it be effectively addressed without full, simultaneous consideration of quality and ethics.
Danaos Corporation is consistently honing an informed, rigorous and objective approach to the combined QSE issue. Salient aspects of this important feature of our operations are reviewed, alongside our corporate values, in the various areas of this section of our website.
