In abundance in and around Mykonos. Cavo paradiso is the brainchild of creator and owner of the venue,nikos dactylides,and is based on a lifelong ambition to introduce to the island,a recreational venue that takes advantage of the natural beauty which one can find in abundance in and around mykonos.
after completing the initial build and suffering a nearly fatal accident on site,nikos encountered a lot of skepticism from various people working in the mykonian nightlife,with the main argument being : "nobody will leave mykonos town to go and party on a otherwise deserted hilltop". well,after 17 years of continuous success we can safely say now that they where wrong!! the first years,cavo existed as a after hours party and first guests included the def mix crew (morales,knuckles & tomiie),louie vega and kenny dope plus many others from the us house scene.word was spread over quickly within the dance music industry and cavo was on its way on becoming the club it is today. the architectural design was developed through various stages of extensions on the initial building,to became on the present day as a 3000 capacity venue. at the same time,thanks to the efforts of margharita antonini (who is also general manager and head of the promotions department since 1997),the artist roster was getting more and more intense,showcasing a unique diversity of dance music genres from house to techno,trance and everything in between. ever since the dawn of the new millennium,cavo paradiso is regarded by music industry publications,artists and clubbers,as one of the most impressive venues on the planet,and it is regularly voted in the top club annual lists. memorable moments from cavo's rich history include a party with john digweed in 2001,where he finished his set after 11 hours at the decks,at 3.30 in the afternoon,and in 2004,at david morale's 40th birthday (which he celebrates in mykonos since the club first opened in 1994),where he had a surprise visit by louie vega and frankie knuckles,which ended up being a marathon back to back between these 3 legends of house music. today,cavo is characterized by probably the most intense summer schedule on the planet with back to back events involving the biggest players on the scene,from the beginning of july untill the end of august.
