Biomedicine Group of Companies was established in 1981 by Dr. E. Spanos and quickly gained the medical community’s trust due to the high-quality, cost effective health services it provides.
Biomedicine is a leading Primary Healthcare Services provider in Greece, consisting of twenty-five (25) autonomous diagnostic centers (covering more than 30.000 sq. m.) and three (3) Secondary Care Clinics with over 1.700.000 visits per year.
Biomedicine is staffed with approximately 1.500 highly-qualified personnel with excellent scientific training, 300 of which are specialized physicians.

Biomedicine also participates in Programs of External Quality Control for Immunological and Molecular Diagnostic Tests [College of American Pathologists (CAP)], Blood Analyses (UKNeQAS) and Cytogenetics Diagnostic Tests (CEQA).
Biomedicine is the only medical diagnostic laboratory in Greece and one of the few throughout Europe, which has been accredited with ISO 9001 and ISO 15189.

As a part of an ongoing and constant process of upgrading its services, Biomedicine has created one of the most modern medical diagnostic laboratories in Europe. The laboratory is located at the intersection of 132 Kifisias Ave. & 1 Papada Str. in Athens, occupies 11.000 m2 and is equipped with cutting-edge, fully automated Roche, Siemens and General Electric systems, offering more than 1600 different laboratory tests.
Biomedicine has led a revolution in diagnostic imaging in Greece, introducing the latest technology in areas such as Ultrasound (U/S), Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance (MRI) Imaging. The reliability of Biomedicine’s laboratory and its international recognition has been recently confirmed by its partnership with General Electric (GE) Healthcare. Biomedicine was chosen by GE Healthcare as the European Reference and Research Centre for the technological advancements of its 3-Tesla MRI and 64-slice CT technology.
Biomedicine’s international recognition is also attested by its strategic partnership with the world-renowned Mayo Clinic Medical Laboratories for specialized and rare laboratory examinations. Furthermore, Biomedicine has been selected by Roche Diagnostics as its European Reference Centre for full laboratory automatization.
Biomedicine’s presence in Thessaloniki was significantly strengthened following the acquisition of Eurodiagnosis Company S.A., a group of companies consisting of five (5) diagnostic centres. Certified with the ISO 9001:2008, Eurodiagnosis has established itself as a leading Primary Healthcare Services provider in Northern Greece.
In January 2011, Biomedicine opened a new central laboratory in Thesaloniki: Biomedicine Thessaloniki. Located in the city centre, on Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, this new branch operates in the Group’s own facilities occupying a total area of 2.500 m2 and is equipped with the latest and most advanced analytical and imaging equipment
Biomedicine has also expanded in the secondary healthcare sector with the acquisition of three (3) hospitals: Athens General Clinic, Lefkos Stavros in Piraeus and Galinos General Clinic in Thessaloniki. All three clinics have been fully renovated and upgraded, and have all been renamed Bioclinic of Athens, Bioclinic of Piraeus and Bioclinic of Thessaloniki respectively.
