An Old Year has Gone – New Hope is Born
Dear friends, dear friends and exponents of sculpture,
On the occasion of the New Year 2010 I wish to all of you prosperity, optimism, positive spirit for your thoughts, peace, and creativity.
Recently I was invited by the organisation here, The Best From Greece, to contribute by writing to their aspirations. I have accepted to do so, and I want to hope that I will be able to respond to their expectations.
It is unusual for a sculptor to write. However I decided to involve, as I have a background which allows me to do so as well. No matter if this might be a diminishing factor for ones creativity – as they might say. Through this web page here, which will eventually be named S/culP/ture Matters, I will be able to write about subjects on culture which may not have been paid the necessary attention by the media in general, and I will do so from an, as possible, objective point of view.
However my attention will be focused also on the art of sculpture. This is not because I am myself an exponent of this art, which I do so for more than 40 years, but due to the fact that this practice, the most difficult (today) and the most important for our every day living, of all the art practices, has been in our society thoughtlessly misplaced; though it has been during previous times and for so long an inseparable or rather a major contribution to humanity.
The year 2010 will mark the first decade of the new Millennium.
As an active member of the European organisation SCULPTURE NETWORK, I will also participate to an important get-together event of this network which will take place during the 17th of January here in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The other European countries and their respective hosts will also do the same at that day and time. During the middle of that day, and at different locations and countries, we will all be virtually connected through the new media, and raise the glass of wine to the name of the New Year and the ideals which unite us.
You cordially invited to join us then!
A more conclusive program of this very promising organisation, and about this special days' event through the int. site www.sculpture-network.org

During this Christmas period I have also contributed to my Amsterdam region cultural events through the first time presentation of works of mine, together with other colleagues, at the International Culture Park Westerpark Gas Factory at Kunstenhuis.
Moreover here at my studio two portrait sculptures are on their way to be concluded in due course.
One of the them is the bronze sculpture head of the significant Greek painter / engraver Nikos Yalouris. Nikos who died in the year 2004, has left a legacy in the art and culture of the Greek islands, and his oeuvre is now presented at his museum at Chios Island, where the sculpture will be located.
And that's some of the latest news for the time being dear friends.
